This Is Not A Love Song

This is not a love song

This is a cautionary tale

Only fools rush in

But they don’t know where they’re goin’

With their colors showin’

Hypnotically glowin’

When I write my love songs

I carve them from the other side

I think the word is vessel

But labels are so easy to hide behind

I’m always feeling blind

When I dig around inside

So now I’m done with love songs

They turn me into quicksand

With every move I try to make

The deeper I don’t understand

Who has the upper hand

And who’ll be an ampersand

But this is not a love song

This is about finding a way to vent

If all else goes wrong

It’s stuck to me just like cement

To represent

The person that time has sent
